Tip Microtip
™
To achieve a
nearly 100% recovery of particles, attraction is
attained through a unique patented Microtip™-
-an ultra thin tip whose thickness is
under 30 microns:
The Microtip™,
made of Polypropylene, can be autoclaved and
also baked up to 150 0 C overnight.
It protects the magnets from the magnetic
particles, but retains the strong magnetic
field. This Tip is dipped into the suspension of
magnetic beads and results in the magnetic
particles efficiently collecting on the covered
activated magnets. Tips are available either in
a 384 box (sterile or not sterile) or 100 tips
(bulk) in a plastic bag.
Thin Tip
Efficiency:
BM had an
extensive research and testing program to check
the efficiency of the tips. By using our Ultra
thin 30µ (micron) tip, the results are a
99.98 % efficiency in collecting
magnetic beads. These results and details were
compared to the different thicknesses of other
marketed tips- and their effectiveness in
percentages as it related to the collection of
magnetic beads.
The test was
preformed with 30µ, 50µ, 90µ, thickness of tip
with 1 mg/ml and 2mg/ml of magnetic beads and
100 µl, 150µl, 200µl, of buffer and stock. The
table below shows the quantity of magnetic
particles remained in the well after extracting
them with the magnet (covered by the different
tips). In the last column, the efficiency of
collecting magnetic beads is calculated
according to:
